WEATHERNEWS INC. has launched a new service “FMS. Safety”.

Map View and Global Port Forecast
FMS.Safety is the newest web-based tool developed as part of our Total Fleet Management Service supporting the safe shipping operations for our customers.
This new interface expands on our Optimum Port Operation service by displaying alerts from anchored ships that will to encounter heavy conditions. This alerts are based on reported information from all vessels (including vessels in port) information (VSM:Vessel Status Monitoring.) This alerts are displayed in an easy to read format alongside forecasts from our 1000-port Optimum Port Operation database. The information provided by FMS.Safety makes it possible for Operators to see if any vessel in their fleet will experience dangerous weather conditions up to 48 hours ahead, not only for vessels underway. FMS.Safety will also send Port Forecasts to Ship Masters automatically to support vessels at sea. By combining these services with Weathernews’ Oceanrouteing Service for underway vessels, we can provide clients with constant monitoring of their shipping operations, and support them with “Total Fleet Management Service.”
The important thing when considering the support of safe vessel operations is being able to provide operators and other interested parties with the most recent position and status information contained in reports from vessels at sea, regardless of whether they are crossing oceans, travelling coastal routes, or anchored. To achieve this, we have created a simple, standardized reporting format for Ship Masters, and an automated HTML-based tool for them to use to produce the text of the reports.
