Health Weather Content

Weather has a huge impact on our day to day health.A sudden change in temperature might lead to a fever or a cold. In order to protect against adverse weather that can affect our health, Weathernews has developed a ‘health awareness weather system’.
Weathernews analyses primary and secondary weather events that can lead to health issues. This is achieved by monitoring and observing individuals whose health is affected by sudden changes in the weather around them. Individuals report their conditions and findings are considered. The ‘health awareness weather system’ is then shared with our 1.3 million mobile subscribers.

Preventing Hay Fever

Consider hay fever. It is a serious problem all around the world especially in the beginning of spring. In Japan for example, hay fever seriously affects over 13 million people. The most serious hay fever is caused by cedar pollen, which starts in the beginning of spring.
During this period most people will suffer from pollen allergies, sneezing, rhinitis, eye itch, and crying among many things. For the first time in Japan, Weathernews has carried out research to diagnose what has caused the pollen scattering. This project was carried out from February 21st - May 15th 2005, and focused on 98 hay fever sufferers. These individuals collect information about pollen on specially supplied measurement instrument. Then they report these measurements and their hay fever condition daily by mobile phone. With these reports, Weathernews makes further analysis by considering to how the weather produced so much pollen and how it was likely to be distributed.
This collaboration between Weathernews mobile subscribers and the Weathernews company has allowed us to provide a unique and innovative service which provides an original pollen prevention prediction system to our mobile family.

Quality Forecasting – A health and comfortable life

Weathernews can now provide the know-how to correlate weather and related health issues which will allow us to construct a ‘comfort index’.This ‘comfort index’ will keep our subscribers completely informed about how the weather will affect their health.
Weathernews is using the power of mobile phones and our supporter base worldwide to generate unique feedback on how they can protect against health concerns which are brought about by sudden changes in the weather.
