Our road management support service provides professional road managers and road-maintenance companies working for national and local governments with snow, ice and other weather information, to help ensure road safety and efficient snow/ice clearing and plowing.

Weathernews' Proprietary Road Weather Forecasting Model

A great degree of precision is required to measure snowfall, air temperature, frost, and road-surface temperature for winter road management. To supplement our original observation data and data observed by our customers, Weathernews developed our proprietary Road Agency-Specific Model (RASM), a weather forecasting model specialized for local roads, which simulates road-environment conditions. RASM has a built-in learning feature that performs constant hind-casting to improve the accuracy of our forecasts.

Reliable Decision-Support Service

Professional road workers monitor road conditions during seasons of extreme weather to ensure roads are safe during commute hours. Weathernews' Risk Communicators have specialized knowledge of snow and ice-related response operations. Working with professional road workers, our Risk Communicators provide detailed reports on changes in weather conditions, and they are trained to provide road workers with the information they need to know when to implement road safety plans, and which techniques will be best-suited to keep drivers safe.

Creating Safer and Smoother Roads

Working to advance the science of road weather forecasting, Weathernews is constantly researching new technologies to predict regional weather phenomena that can affect road traffic. These phenomena include destructive waves, fog, hail, drifting snow, floods, landslides, and avalanches.

RASM provides the data road professionals need to keep drivers safe.

Weathernews' Risk Communicators are trained to help professional road workers deal with road-related emergencies.
