A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Images that display the location of important weather features are valuable tools for anyone needing to make aviation decisions. They must be clear, concise, and easy to follow, so they can serve as a quick reference to those who need them.

Flight Plan Guidance Charts:
Forecasted turbulence and thunderstorms are depicted on these charts and sent to AOCs via FTP. The graphical turbulence forecasts correspond to Turbulence Indicators, which are useful to airlines with flight planning systems that can ingest those indicators. These charts cover any area of the world where we issue Turbulence Indicators and most are delivered every four hours. These charts allow dispatchers to proactively plan flights to avoid areas of turbulence and alert pilots currently flying towards potentially rough air.
