Optimum Ship Routing

Weathernews' Optimum Ship Routing is the most advanced and comprehensive ship routing service offered in the industry. The ship Master receives optimum route recommendations supported by accompanying weather forecasts and other operational information prior to departure. Should the Master opt for another route, Weathernews will provide a route comparison of the two, thus giving the Master the best possible information to make a well-informed decision. Ship Routing information can be received by fax, telex or electronically and includes continuous voyage monitoring, regular voyage status reports, enroute advisories to the vessel and a Preliminary Performance Evaluation (PPE) upon the vessel's arrival. | top

Speed and Bunker Analysis

Weathernews' Speed and Bunker Analyses (SBA) are recognized around the world within the maritime industry as both reliable and objective. If given details of the charter party as it pertains to speed and fuel consumption, we can further calculate and include the actual time lost and fuel over-consumed during a voyage. | top

Voyage Reconstruction

Voyage Reconstruction can be provided for those voyages where ship routing was not utilized. Weathernews will provide a complete Preliminary Performance Evaluation and Speed and Bunker Analysis to compare against the reported weather, consumption, and performance of the vessel and route selected. Weathernews maintains a comprehensive historical weather database to handle all your vessel performance and forensic needs. | top

Weather Information and Fleet Display Software

OceanWatch is a Web-based Weather Information and Fleet Display system that offers ship managers comprehensive data related to their vessels being routed, monitored or tracked by Weathernews, as well as a graphical depiction of the current and forecasted weather conditions around the world. | top

Vessel Tracking Service

A charterer usually requires continuous advisories on how weather impacts a voyage. Therefore, Weathernews can track a vessel and provide ETA reports to the operator based on the vessel's reported performance and weather conditions. This service is particularly useful for independent verification of ETA's when cargo delivery and other intermodal commitments require that all parties be made aware of actual arrival times. This modified reporting service may be upgraded to our Optimum Ship Routing Service any time during the voyage. | top

Performance Evaluation and Comparative Analysis (PECA)

For an in-depth analysis of an actual voyage, Weathernews also provides a detailed PECA of actual weather conditions, such as sea, swell, wind and current conditions. The PECA also provides evidence of actual time enroute, actual distance sailed, average speeds and the effect of weather on performance.

The PECA will contain convincing documentation of the weather conditions which were encountered during a voyage - information that is appropriate for cases which might proceed to maritime arbitration. Should an arbitration hearing become imminent it is imperative that a PECA be done, as arbitrators will normally give strongest consideration only to reports based on an examination of a vessel's logs. If a performance claim may be headed into arbitration for a voyage that was not monitored or weather routed by Weathernews, a PECA based on available logbook data can still be provided to assist in evaluating the merits of the claim.
