Warm air and strong sunshine to raise temperatures

From October 10 to October 11, warm air and strong sunshine are expected to combine to raise temperatures across Brazil. Warm air of +21°C or higher is spreading at around 1,500 m above ground as far as Guyana, continuing to warm areas near the surface. Mostly clear skies are expected, allowing sunshine to continue warming the ground.

Outlook for major cities

Warm air and strong sunshine are expected to persist during this period. Brasília is forecast to reach 35°C from the 10th to the 11th, with low humidity of 14%, bringing dry heat. Recife is forecast to reach 31°C, São Paulo 26–29°C with weaker sunshine, and Rio de Janeiro 28–29°C; none of these cities is expected to reach 35°C.

People are advised to limit outdoor activities during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat by drinking water regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
