Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien Sunny Today; Kaohsiung Air Quality Worsens at Certain Times

Taipei to Hualien Sunny Today; Day-Night Temperature Differences Vary by Location

On September 17 (Thursday), Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien are all forecast to be sunny, with the weather condition listed as “sunny” in each location. Taipei's high today is 30°C and its low is 22°C; Taichung's high is 32°C and its low is 24°C; Kaohsiung's high is 31°C and its low is 27°C; and Hualien's high is 30°C and its low is 24°C. Today's highs in all four locations are at least 30°C, while the lows range from 22°C to 27°C.

The day-night temperature difference is 8 degrees in both Taipei and Taichung, the largest among the four locations. Kaohsiung's difference is 4 degrees, the smallest among the four, while Hualien's is 6 degrees, between those of Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung Air Quality Worsens at Certain Times; Other Three Locations More Stable

Kaohsiung's overall air quality forecast is at the moderate pollution level, making it the only one of the four locations forecast to show a marked change at different times of day. At 6 a.m., light pollution is forecast; at 9 a.m. and noon, the forecast changes to good; at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., it changes back to light pollution; and at 9 p.m., it changes again to moderate pollution.

By comparison, Taipei and Hualien are forecast to remain at the good level during all six time periods today, while Taichung is forecast to remain at the light pollution level during all six time periods. The changes in all three locations are therefore much smaller and more stable than those in Kaohsiung.

Strong Mosquito Activity; Taipei's Heat Hazard Index Reaches Reminder Level

For the mosquito activity index, Taipei, Kaohsiung and Hualien are all forecast to have strong mosquito activity, and comprehensive mosquito-prevention measures are recommended. Taichung is forecast to have mosquito activity requiring attention, and the use of mosquito repellents is recommended. Among the four locations, only Taichung has a lower mosquito activity level; the other three have the same level.

For the heat hazard index (WBGT), Taipei is forecast to be at the reminder level today, while Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien are all forecast to be at the caution level.

For outdoor activities, Taipei, Kaohsiung and Hualien are forecast to have suitable conditions, while Taichung is forecast to be unsuitable. The driving index is forecast to be excellent in all four locations.
