Warm air and strong sunshine to raise temperatures

On October 5, strong sunshine and warm air will combine to raise temperatures across India. Skies will be mostly clear, allowing strong sunshine to continue warming the ground. At around 1,500 m aloft, warm air of +18°C or higher is spreading widely from the Arabian Sea and continuing to warm areas near the surface. This is expected to make daytime temperatures more likely to rise.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to persist during the period. Delhi is forecast to reach 35°C on the 5th, with low humidity of 29%, bringing dry heat. Mumbai is forecast to reach 34°C, Chennai 33°C and Lucknow 32°C; none are expected to reach 35°C.

Avoid going outdoors during the day as much as possible. Drink water frequently and take precautions against the heat, such as keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
