Strong sunshine forecast to push Surabaya, Indonesia, to 36°C

Intense sunshine adds to the heat from October 10

From October 9 to 16, skies across Indonesia are expected to be mostly clear, allowing sunshine to warm the ground. Strong sunshine combined with warm air is expected to push temperatures higher. Warm air of +18°C or above at around 1,500 m is spreading widely from the Indian Ocean and continues to warm areas near the surface. This pattern is expected to persist.

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to continue during this period. Surabaya is forecast to reach 36°C from October 9 to 16, with humidity ranging from 40% to 49%. Jakarta is expected to reach 32–33°C, as is Denpasar; neither city is forecast to reach 35°C.

People are advised to limit outdoor activities during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat by drinking water regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
