Temperatures to rise due to warm air and strong sunshine

From September 19 to September 20, temperatures in India are expected to rise as strong sunshine combines with warm air. Skies are expected to be mostly clear, allowing sunshine to warm the ground, while warm air of +21°C or higher is spreading from the Arabian Sea around 1,500 m above the ground and continuing to warm areas near the surface. The heat is expected to peak by September 20.

Outlook for locations

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to continue during the period. Delhi is forecast at 36°C from September 19 to September 20, with humidity at 46% to 47%. Lucknow is forecast at 34°C, while Chennai is also expected to reach 34°C because of weaker sunshine. Mumbai is expected to be 31–32°C, and none of these locations is expected to reach 35°C.

Please avoid going outdoors during the day as much as possible. Drink fluids frequently and take precautions against the heat, such as improving ventilation indoors.
