Temperatures to rise as strong sunshine continues for six days

From September 19 through September 24, temperatures are expected to rise in India as strong sunshine combines with warm air. Skies are expected to be generally clear, allowing sunshine to warm the surface. At around 1,500 m above the ground, warm air of +18°C or higher is spreading broadly from the Arabian Sea and continuing to warm areas near the surface. This pattern is expected to continue.

Outlook for locations

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to continue during this period. In Delhi, temperatures are forecast to rise to 38°C from the 19th through the 24th, with humidity ranging from 32% to 39%, making for low-humidity, dry heat. Lucknow is forecast to reach 35°C from the 22nd through the 23rd, with humidity of 55% to 56%. Chennai is expected to reach 32–34°C, while Mumbai is expected to reach 31–32°C; neither is expected to reach 35°C.
