Warm air and strong sunshine to raise temperatures

From October 2 to 6, temperatures are expected to rise across India as strong sunshine combines with warm air. Skies will have few clouds, and strong sunshine continues to warm the ground. Warm air of +18°C or higher is spreading widely from the Arabian Sea at around 1,500 m above ground, and this is expected to continue warming areas near the surface.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to persist throughout the period. Delhi is forecast to reach 36°C from the 2nd through the 6th, with low humidity of 22% to 40%, making for dry heat. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C from the 2nd through the 3rd, with humidity of 49% to 50%. Lucknow is forecast to see 31–33°C, while Chennai is forecast to see 32–33°C; neither is expected to reach 35°C.

Please avoid going outdoors during the day as much as possible. Drink fluids regularly and take steps to cope with the heat, such as improving ventilation indoors.
