Temperatures to rise amid warm air and strong sunshine

From October 7 to 9, temperatures in India are expected to rise as strong sunshine combines with warm air. Skies will have few clouds, allowing strong sunshine to continue warming the surface. Warm air of +18°C or higher at around 1,500 m is spreading widely from the Arabian Sea and continuing to warm areas near the surface. The heat is expected to peak on October 8.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to persist during the period. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C from October 7 to 9, with humidity at 50% to 55%. Delhi is expected to see temperatures of 33–34°C, Chennai 32–33°C and Lucknow 29–30°C; none is expected to reach 35°C.

People should limit outdoor activities during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat, such as drinking fluids regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
