Strong sunshine to drive temperatures higher over eight days

From October 8 to 15, strong sunshine combined with warm air is expected to raise temperatures across India. Skies will be mostly clear, allowing strong sunshine to continue warming the ground. Warm air of +18°C or higher at around 1,500 m is spreading widely from the Arabian Sea and continuing to warm areas near the surface. This pattern is expected to persist.

Forecast for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to continue throughout the period. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C from the 8th to the 15th, with humidity ranging from 43% to 50%. Delhi is forecast to reach 35°C on the 8th, with low humidity of 32%, bringing dry heat. Chennai is forecast to reach 32–34°C and Lucknow 29–32°C; neither is expected to reach 35°C.

Limit time outdoors during the day as much as possible. Drink water regularly and take precautions against the heat, such as keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
