Temperatures to rise as strong sunshine continues for 8 days
From October 14 to 21, strong sunshine and warm air are expected to combine to raise temperatures across India. Skies are expected to remain mostly clear, allowing strong sunshine to continue warming the ground. Warm air of +18°C or higher around 1,500 m altitude is expected to spread widely from the Arabian Sea and continue warming areas near the surface.
Forecast for major cities
Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to persist throughout the period. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C from October 14 to 21, with humidity ranging from 43% to 55%. Delhi is expected to see temperatures of 32–34°C, Lucknow 31–32°C, and Chennai 31–32°C under weaker sunshine. None of the cities is expected to reach 35°C.
People are advised to limit outdoor activity during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat by drinking fluids regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
