Warm air and strong sunshine to push temperatures higher

Mostly clear skies across India on October 16 will allow sunshine to warm the ground. Strong sunshine combined with warm air is expected to drive temperatures higher. At around 1,500 m, air temperatures of +18°C or higher extend widely from the Arabian Sea and continue to warm the air near the surface, making daytime temperatures more likely to rise.

Forecast for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to persist during the period. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C on the 16th, with low humidity of 44%, making for dry heat. Lucknow is forecast to reach 32°C, Delhi 31°C, and Chennai 31°C under weaker sunshine; none of these cities is expected to reach 35°C.

Try to limit outdoor activity during the day. Take precautions against the heat by drinking fluids regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
