Warm air and strong sunshine to raise temperatures

From October 19 to 23, temperatures across India are expected to rise as strong sunshine combines with warm air. Skies are mostly clear, and strong sunshine continues to warm the ground. Warm air of +18°C or higher is spreading widely from the Arabian Sea at around 1,500 m aloft, continuing to warm areas near the surface. This pattern is expected to persist.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to continue during this period. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C from October 19 to 23, with humidity ranging from 46% to 54%. Delhi is forecast to reach 32–34°C, Lucknow 31–32°C, and Chennai 30–32°C, where sunshine will be weaker. None of these cities is expected to reach 35°C.

Limit outdoor activity during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat, such as drinking fluids regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
