Warm air and strong sunshine to raise temperatures

On October 27, strong sunshine combined with warm air is expected to push temperatures higher across India. Skies are mostly clear, and strong sunshine continues to warm the ground. At around 1,500 m, warm air of +18°C or higher is spreading widely from the Arabian Sea and continuing to warm areas near the surface, making daytime temperatures more likely to rise.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and warm air are expected to persist during this period. Mumbai is forecast to reach 36°C on the 27th, with low humidity of 34%, making for dry heat. By contrast, sunshine will be weaker in Chennai, where temperatures are forecast to reach 34°C; Lucknow is expected to reach 32°C and Delhi 30°C. None of the three cities is expected to reach 35°C.

People are advised to limit outdoor activities as much as possible during the day. Drink water regularly and take measures to cope with the heat, such as improving ventilation indoors.
