Warm air and strong sunshine to raise temperatures

From October 5 to 8, temperatures in Indonesia are expected to rise as warm air combines with strong sunshine. A broad area of warm air at +18°C or higher extends from the Indian Ocean at around 1,500 m aloft, continuing to warm areas near the surface. Cloud cover is also limited, adding to the effect of solar radiation. This pattern is expected to continue for some time.

Outlook for major cities

Warm air and strong sunshine are expected to persist during this period. Surabaya is forecast to reach 35°C from the 5th to the 8th, with humidity at 45% to 46%. On the 9th, increasing cloud cover is expected to weaken the sunshine in Surabaya, bringing temperatures down to 34°C. Jakarta is forecast to reach 33°C and Denpasar 32°C, with neither expected to reach 35°C.

Avoid going outdoors during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat by drinking fluids regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
