Temperatures to rise as high pressure aloft extends

On September 30, temperatures are expected to rise in Mexico as warm air and high pressure aloft combine. At around 1,500 m aloft, air at +21°C or warmer is spreading from the Bay of Campeche and continues to warm the air near the surface. In addition, at around 5,000 m aloft, a high-pressure ridge shows a slight tendency to extend, making daytime temperatures more likely to climb.

Outlook for various areas

Warm air and high pressure aloft are expected to persist during this period. Monterrey is forecast to reach 35°C on September 30, with humidity at 50%. Temperatures in Monterrey are expected to fall to 33°C on October 1 as the high pressure aloft moves away. Guadalajara is forecast to reach 28°C and Mexico City 26°C; neither is expected to reach 35°C.
