Temperatures to rise as high pressure builds aloft

From September 14 to September 15, strong sunshine and high pressure aloft will combine to raise temperatures in Spain. Skies will have few clouds, and strong sunshine will continue warming the surface. At around 5,000 m aloft, a ridge of high pressure extends farther than the surrounding areas, creating conditions that make cloud formation less likely. The heat is expected to peak on September 14.

Outlook for various areas

Strong sunshine and high pressure aloft will continue during this period. Seville will reach up to 38°C from September 14 to September 15, with humidity low at 16% to 17%, making for dry heat. Madrid will reach 35°C on September 15, with humidity at 11%, also making for dry heat. Bilbao will range from 27°C to 31°C, while Barcelona, where the high-pressure ridge is less pronounced, will range from 28°C to 29°C; neither is expected to reach 35°C.

Please avoid going outdoors during the daytime as much as possible. Take measures against the heat, such as drinking water frequently and improving ventilation indoors.
