Temperatures rise as high pressure aloft expands

From September 20 to September 24, strong sunshine and high pressure aloft will combine over Spain, raising temperatures. Few clouds are expected, and strong sunshine will continue to warm the surface. Around 5,000 m above the ground, a ridge of high pressure is expected to extend more strongly than in the surrounding areas, creating continued conditions unfavorable for cloud formation.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and high pressure aloft will continue throughout the period, while warm air will also flow into Seville. From September 20 to September 24, temperatures in Seville are forecast to reach 37°C, with low humidity of 17% to 23%, bringing hot, dry conditions. Madrid is forecast to reach 30–33°C, Bilbao 27–31°C, and Barcelona 26–29°C; none of these cities are expected to reach 35°C.

Please avoid going outside during the daytime as much as possible. Drink fluids frequently, and take measures to protect yourself from the heat, such as ensuring good ventilation indoors.
