Temperatures to rise as high pressure aloft builds

From September 20 to September 25, strong sunshine and high pressure aloft are expected to combine to raise temperatures in Spain. Skies are expected to have few clouds, and strong sunshine will continue to warm the surface. Meanwhile, around 5,000 m above ground, a ridge of high pressure is expected to extend more prominently than its surroundings, creating conditions that will make cloud formation difficult.

Outlook for various locations

Strong sunshine and high pressure aloft are expected to continue throughout the period. Warm air will also flow into Seville, where highs of 37°C are forecast from September 20 to September 25. Humidity will be low, at 15% to 25%, resulting in dry heat. Highs are forecast at 30–33°C in Madrid, 26–31°C in Bilbao, and 26–29°C in Barcelona; none of these cities is expected to reach 35°C.

Please avoid going outdoors during the day as much as possible. Drink water frequently and take precautions against the heat, such as improving ventilation indoors.
