Taipei will be sunny and then scorching early in the week, before temperatures drop sharply with Wednesday’s rain

Taipei is forecast to be mostly sunny during the first half of the week, followed by a marked shift to scorching heat and rain midweek. From October 17 (Saturday) to 19 (Monday), highs will range from 32 to 34°C, with only a 10% chance of rain and generally stable weather. On the 20th (Tuesday), the high will reach 35°C, bringing scorching conditions. Those heading out during the day should take extra precautions against the sun and drink plenty of water. On the 21st (Wednesday), a cold front will sweep across nearby areas, raising the chance of rain to 70%. The weather will turn rainy with occasional sunny breaks, and the high will fall sharply to 27°C, with a low of 22°C. Temperatures will be markedly lower than the previous day. Those going out are advised to bring rain gear and watch for slippery roads. Overall, temperatures will fluctuate significantly.

Taipei will turn sunny again from Thursday, with noticeably cooler temperatures

After the cold front passes, Taipei’s rainy midweek weather will give way to continued sunshine later in the week, while temperatures gradually cool from the earlier heat. On the 22nd (Thursday), skies will be sunny, the chance of rain will fall to 10%, and temperatures will reach a high of 26°C and a low of 20°C. Friday the 23rd will also be sunny, with the chance of rain remaining at 10%, a high of 27°C and a low of 20°C—broadly similar to Thursday. Compared with the scorching 35°C on Tuesday the 20th, highs on the 22nd and 23rd will be markedly lower, a difference of 8 to 9°C. This indicates that the latter part of the week will be cooler and more stable. Those going out in the morning or evening are advised to wear an extra layer of warm clothing.
