Warm air and strong sunshine to drive temperatures higher

On October 9, warm air and strong sunshine are expected to combine to raise temperatures across Thailand. At around 1,500 m, warm air of +18°C or higher is spreading widely from the South China Sea and continues to warm the area near the surface. Relatively few clouds are also making conditions more susceptible to the effects of sunlight. Together, these factors are expected to make daytime temperatures more likely to rise.

Outlook for major cities

Warm air and strong sunshine are expected to persist during the period. Bangkok is forecast to reach 35°C on the 9th, with humidity at 57%. Temperatures in Bangkok are expected to fall to 33°C on the 10th as clouds spread and sunlight weakens. Chiang Mai is forecast to reach 34°C and Phuket 33°C, with neither expected to reach 35°C.

Please limit outdoor activities during the day as much as possible. Take precautions against the heat by drinking fluids regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated.
