Temperatures to rise as high pressure aloft extends over the region

On September 30, high pressure aloft and warm air are expected to combine to raise temperatures in Vietnam. Around 5,000 m above the ground, a ridge of high pressure is expected to extend slightly, while warm air of +18°C or higher around 1,500 m is spreading widely from the South China Sea and continuing to warm areas near the surface. As a result, daytime temperatures are expected to rise easily.

Outlook for locations

The high pressure aloft and warm air are expected to persist during the period. Hanoi is forecast to reach 35°C on September 30, and with humidity also high at 61%, it is likely to feel hot and humid. Hanoi's heat is expected to ease to 34°C on October 1 as the high pressure aloft moves away. Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to reach 33°C and Da Nang 32°C, with neither expected to reach 35°C.

Please avoid going outdoors during the day as much as possible. Drink water frequently and take measures to cope with the heat, such as improving ventilation indoors.
