Temperatures to rise as high pressure aloft extends

On October 25, strong sunshine combined with high pressure aloft is expected to push temperatures higher in Vietnam. Skies are mostly clear, and strong sunshine continues to warm the ground. A ridge of high pressure is tending to extend slightly at around 5,000 m, making daytime temperatures more likely to rise.

Outlook for major cities

Strong sunshine and high pressure aloft are expected to persist during the period. In Hanoi, warm air is also forecast to move in, with temperatures reaching 35°C on the 25th and humidity at 51%. The heat is expected to ease on the 26th as warm air around 1,500 m weakens, with temperatures falling to 34°C. By contrast, the ridge of high pressure aloft will be weaker in Da Nang, where temperatures are forecast at 32°C. Ho Chi Minh City is also forecast to reach 32°C, as sunshine will be weaker. Neither city is expected to reach 35°C.

People are advised to limit outdoor activities as much as possible during the day. Take precautions against the heat, such as drinking water regularly and ensuring good ventilation indoors.
