Weathernews Inc. to Begin Providing "Weather in Athens" for Access by Mobile Phones in Eight Countries/Regions
-- Contents to be Provided Simultaneously to Sites in Operation for Carriers in Each Country for First Time --

Weathernews Inc., the world's largest full-service weather company in the private sector, announced that a "Weather in Athens" service will be launched on August 9, providing local weather reports in Athens during the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games held in Greece in August via the official Weathernews sites around the world, first starting from Japan. Plans call for the service contents to be made sequentially available on the sites for mobile phone carriers in countries outside of Japan, such as China, U.S., and Germany, and this will begin simultaneously in the local languages of eight countries/regions.

Of the 28 sports and 301 events included in the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games, the "Weather in Athens" contents provided by Weathernews for access by mobile phones will cover every event including final matches. Subscribers will be able to search by sport and venue for weather reports and forecasts for the particular day, the following day, or an entire week. The "Weather in Athens" site allows subscribers to check the latest weather reports before viewing key playoff games or matches. (Searches by sport and venue can be made starting on August 13.)

As a first for services provided by Weathernews, the companies in the Weathernews Group will provide contents on their sites to mobile phone subscribers in eight countries/regions (Japan, Taiwan, U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Australia) simultaneously in each local language. Services will begin sequentially within a few days.
